Porcelain Veneers
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells that are custom-made to cover the front surface of your teeth, improving their appearance by changing the shape, colour, size, or alignment. They are a popular solution for patients seeking a long-lasting and natural-looking smile makeover.
Veneers are often used to address:
- Discoloured or stained teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Minor misalignments or crooked teeth
- Worn-down or chipped enamel
- Uneven or misshapen teeth
What’s Involved in Getting Veneers?
1. Consultation & Planning
We begin with a consultation to discuss your smile goals. Photos and scans are taken to plan your new smile, including choosing the ideal shade and shape for your veneers.
2. Tooth Preparation
A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of your teeth to allow room for the veneers. This step is minimally invasive and often requires no anaesthetic.
3. Digital Scan & Temporary Veneers
We take a 3D digital scan of your prepared teeth and fit temporary veneers to protect them while your permanent ones are being crafted.
4. Fitting & Final Cementation
Once your custom porcelain veneers are back from the dental lab, we try them in to ensure you’re happy with the look and feel. When approved, they’re permanently bonded in place.
Are veneers permanent?
Veneers are a long-term solution with proper care, but they may need replacing eventually.
Do veneers look natural?
Yes – porcelain mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural teeth, giving you a bright but natural-looking smile.
Are veneers painful?
The process is usually pain-free, and most patients do not require anaesthetic. Temporary sensitivity may occur after placement.
Will I still be able to eat normally?
Absolutely – once your veneers are bonded, you can eat normally. We just advise avoiding extremely hard foods like ice or boiled sweets.
Can veneers stain?
Porcelain is stain-resistant, unlike natural enamel or composite, helping keep your smile brighter for longer.
